The Name Of The Next Song Is IIIIIIIIIII
HD Videos (5.23, Loop) and Installation
Installation views at TENT, Rotterdam
Two performers in a disused shop space struggle with each other through the medium of a series of soft objects carved from foam, based on Giorgio Morandi’s still lives and Polynesian slit drums. A second screen shows another artefact that resembles a head and a body simultaneously sways from an invisible touch, in a critique of the decontextualisation of museological display particular to the Wereld Museum in Rotterdam. The soundtrack combines the sonic textures of dub and improvisatory music. The two videos were installed within an arrangement of acoustic panels similar to those used in a recording studio to isolate sound, which the viewer had to sit down within to experience the work fully.
